In a world where war criminals like Tony Blair are rewarded and those that oppose war criminals, like the Iraqi shoe thrower Muntadhar al-Zeidi, are imprisoned and tortured, it comes as no surprise that another war criminal – Barack H. Obama – has been rewarded for his stoic service to imperial bloodletting with the Nobel Peace Prize.
The man who gallantly promised “change” from the Bush regime’s illegal wars and a return to diplomacy over belligerency in dealing with Iran, has perpetuated the illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq while expanding another in Pakistan and becoming belligerent towards Iran.

 Long-awaited tapes show mayhem, but key portions of videotapes—just before bombing—are blank

When the FBI released long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building, Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue was elated. His excitement subsided in one day, however, when he realized that the doctored finished product was not that for which he had been waiting for more than a decade.
This is only the latest chapter of a government coverup that began at 9:03 a.m. on April 19, 1995. Trentadue said he has received about 30 security tapes, including some images that were used as evidence at Timothy McVeigh’s trial. McVeigh was convicted on federal murder and conspiracy charges and executed in 2001, even though private investigations showed that the Murrah Building was blown up from the inside and no ammonium nitrate fuel oil, which McVeigh was alleged to have used, was found at the scene.

For the past several months we have been besieged by politicians, demagogues, and media pundits alike concerning the trials our nation faces post September 11. From the talking heads of television towers to the cut-and-paste political hacks of mainstream newspapers, every authority figure in American culture is crying out, warning us of the new social and political realities that lie ahead, and assuring us that terrorism isn’t just a problem that dwells over there anymore. What these fools and liars fail to mention, however, is that terrorism is only a symptom of an even more deadly and insidious import: tyranny. More specifically, the tyranny of the mind.
